Jennifer Ménard-Shand

Founder & CEO

As a First Nations Ojibwe and French-Canadian entrepreneur, Jennifer Ménard-Shand always dreamed of leading a purpose-driven organization. Today, she lives that dream as the Founder & CEO of Staff Shop, an award-winning certified diverse staffing and consulting firm. Through sharing her inspirational entrepreneurial journey as well as insight into the Canadian labour market, Indigenous truth and reconciliation, DE&I, and more, Ménard-Shand inspires entrepreneurs, leaders and organizations to reach their full potential both at home and work.

Ménard-Shand began her career in 2008 at one of Toronto’s most trusted full-service recruitment agencies, The Bagg Group. In 2013, she created Bagg @ Your Service, the organization’s first hospitality and event staffing division, before purchasing her creation in 2018 and evolving it into Staff Shop. Today, her company services hundreds of clients across North America and deploys thousands of employees throughout Canada with a focus on global expansion.

In 2023, Ménard-Shand launched her second company, FireFlames, a trinity of healthy hot sauces in a bag-swag bottle for foodies who enjoy bringing their own spice to the table. A third venture is now in the works for 2025 (AKAWE Cho1ce) in the spirit of moving reconciliation forward through CTA #92.

Jennifer's entrepreneurial story celebrates the triumph of resiliency as a survivor of abuse, abandonment, domestic violence, imposter syndrome, and PTSD. She is committed to breaking the silence and putting an end to generational trauma and unhealthy cycles. There is no limit to the positive impact Jennifer and "her village" can have on humanity. This is what drives her to do her best as a servant leader who builds legacies worth following for generations to come.

In addition, Ménard-Shand is passionate about philanthropy, serving on the board of Victim Services Toronto to shed light on the darkness of slavery, human trafficking and violence to clear the path for healing, survival and success. Her motto: God is love and love always wins.

Alison Hernández

Alison “Ali” Hernandez is a seasoned professional known for her strategic prowess, thought leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Throughout her career, Ali has established herself as a dynamic force in the business world, driving growth, fostering innovation, and empowering others to succeed.

Throughout her tenure as COO at Staff Shop, Ali has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of the organization, steering it towards success through her strategic acumen and hands-on approach. She is celebrated for her ability to implement scalable operational practices that optimize efficiency and drive profitability. Ali's leadership is characterized by her keen insight, agility, and responsiveness to evolving business landscapes, enabling her to capitalize on new opportunities and navigate challenges with ease.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ali is deeply involved in community engagement and leadership initiatives. She is an active member of various community organizations, NFP boards and initiatives - a range of social, political and faith-based causes. Ali is a doer, always first through the door to advocate for causes she is passionate about, reflecting her commitment to making a difference in the world around her.

In essence, Ali Hernandez is more than just a COO or a business leader – she is a visionary, a mentor, and a changemaker. Her strategic vision, exceptional leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence make her a true asset to all who benefit from her contributions and a driving force for positive change in the communities she serves.

Jennifer Ménard-Shand had the exciting opportunity to combine her two loves and create The Bagg Group’s first Hospitality & Event Staffing division – a new service offering for this staffing firm and a chance for Jennifer to put her business and relationship building skills to work. It’s no surprise that the division grew quickly and successfully. So successful, that Jennifer could no longer captain the ship by herself. As one of her mentors put it – “You are the visionary, the creative mind – the Walt Disney of this operation. But even Walt needed his Roy.” Jennifer was juggling business development, client happiness as well as the operations and efficiency side of the business, all while overseeing several initiatives at once for Bagg overall. It became apparent that it would be very difficult, if not impossible to scale without finding her “Roy.”

Now

In 2017, through a chance casual introduction via a mutual acquaintance, Jennifer’s Yoda, Geoff Bagg, met Alison, who was simply looking for his opinion and expertise regarding her next career move. He saw a “Walt & Roy” opportunity, and introduced Jennifer and Alison. Since then, Jennifer and Alison, or “Walt & Roy” discovered that they shared vision, values and common goals when it comes to life, and business. Together, they began to plan and strategize for the future. When Jennifer was given the opportunity to purchase the hospitality line as her own in late 2018, it was time for the Walt & Roy Show to shine, and Staff Shop was born. Together, Walt & Roy continue to have a positive impact on the leaders and legacies they have been entrusted to serve and build.
