“As leaders, it is incumbent on all of us to make sure we are building a world in which every individual has an opportunity to thrive. Understanding what AI can do and how it fits into your strategy is the beginning, not the end, of that process.” — Andrew Ng
Artificial intelligence (AI) scares a lot of people. They see job loss and a dystopian world where the computers have taken over. The truth is, most businesses aren’t using it for nefarious purposes.
For Staff Shop, there was no question that we would embrace AI. In 2025, not utilizing AI is basically a surrender to your competitors. You will be left behind.
For us, creating opportunities for efficiency is paramount. In our last blog, the topic was centred on how hiring a blog writer freed up time for our leadership team to focus on business growth. Well, using AI in the right way, in strategic areas of the business, has freed up time for our team members in key service lines.
So for this month, we want to dispel some myths that AI will replace humans in the workforce and highlight how we are using it for the betterment of our business.
People Still Matter in an AI World
Recently, members of the Staff Shop team were given a presentation by influential keynote speakers in this space. They talked about EQ & AI, sharing some very interesting stats.
One is that while it’s predicted that 30% of current jobs will be replaced by AI by 2030, there’s another more compelling stat that follows. 97 million jobs will be created because of AI. Yes, there will be some loss in certain sectors, but what we will gain will keep humans employed and productive in society. It’s important to change and grow as things change and grow around us.
Most believe that AI can create efficiency in business, but that emotional intelligence is still a human characteristic that matters in leadership. There are some areas that simply cannot be replaced by technology. Humanity in business, and in the world at large, still matters.
How AI is Working for Staff Shop
Several of Staff Shop’s service lines have implemented AI and it’s already doing wonders in terms of freeing up time. The bottomline is that AI can be used to take care of those tedious, annoying, time consuming, mindless tasks that we all dread in our workday.
For Chantal Porter, General Manager, Staffing Services, AI is already making a difference in how they deliver for clients, candidates and employees.
“In our service line, we have implemented AI to streamline resume searches within our ATS (Applicant Tracking System), optimizing search efforts for our clients. Additionally, we have fully integrated Fireflies as our AI-powered note taker across all meetings and conversations. This ensures accountability, helps maintain a dynamic task list, and allows us to capture every detail from client discussions without being distracted by manual note-taking. Fireflies has also enhanced our interview process, enabling us to review past conversations with candidates. This ensures alignment between their stated qualifications and actual performance, allowing us to make more informed hiring decisions.”
This means that rather than spending hours trying to find the right candidates for hiring, our system will do the heavy lifting. And who wouldn’t want to be more engaged in meetings, rather than scribbling down notes that might not even make sense and waste time later. Having AI take your notes, allows you to be present in a meeting or interview, and leave the notetaking to the technology. Once again, AI allows your more human side to be at the forefront, leaving the clerical work to the computers.
For Adrian Brown, Director of Search Solutions, AI is allowing his team to deliver results faster for clients. He’s also using it to improve his own skill set.
“We’ve integrated AI into our service line primarily for company and industry research, candidate sourcing, and optimizing workflow efficiencies. This has enhanced our ability to identify top talent more quickly, streamline outreach, and refine search strategies, ultimately improving speed-to-market and the quality of our shortlists. Additionally, I’ve leveraged AI educationally to enhance my skills, such as learning how to create Pivot Tables and improving data analysis capabilities.”
AI as a Marketing Tool
Friend to Staff Shop, Tony Chapman, known for his podcast, Chatter that Matters, has introduced his own AI tool: Chatter AI.
Chapman, an award winning marketing expert, industry hall of famer, and branding guru is now looking to AI to formulate a tool to help marketers. The tagline is “AI powered. Human-Empowered.” Which really leans into the narrative that AI performs best when there is an actual human involved.
Tony thought about the pitfalls of traditional research and how technology could solve some of these common problems.
“Most businesses and marketers rely on traditional research, lifting a few big demographic rocks in search of common denominators. What do males 18-35 value? What do most customers think? The goal is to uncover a point of difference and a roadmap to engagement. But in our experience, any so-called difference is often easily matched—or erased—by pricing or promotion.
Chatter AI does it differently. Points of Distinction versus a Point of Difference. Instead of looking under a few big rocks, we use our proprietary AI process to turn over millions of pebbles—revealing what truly matters to your audience, your business, and your industry. We don’t just track trends; we uncover the motivations that drive action. We tap into the head, heart, and hands—how people think, feel, and act—so you can engage them in ways that move them.”
As you can see, what this tool can do would be incredibly time consuming, bordering on impossible, for a single human to do on their own. This is one of the best ways to utilize AI. Leave the data mining to the computers, then you can work on the fun and rewarding part of the job.

Staff Shop recently asked Chatter AI questions like;
- What does it mean to be a Canadian?
- What do you think it would take to unify Canadians?
- ..and we received remarkable answers!
Don’t Be Left in the Dust
The bottom line here is that AI doesn’t have to be scary. As you can see, our team leaders are using it to improve the way they deliver for our clients, allowing them to focus on other aspects of their jobs. If AI can free up time for our people to focus on the areas that really require their specialized skills, we’re all for it.
