We have many open positions for housekeepers and laundry aides with both full time and part time work available. These positions are located in Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Homes throughout the GTHA and Ontario.

About the role:
We are looking for a dedicated individual who prides themselves in their meticulous work ethic, positive attitude, and the desire to create bright and clean spaces for our long-term care facility client in Port Hope. Some of the responsibilities will include (but are not limited) to:

Responsibilities & Requirements for Housekeepers:

  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming facilities
  • Gather and empty all trash and debris
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
  • Clean/polish, dust, and wax furniture, fixtures, walls, machines, carpets, and equipment
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
  • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings
  • Must be able to exert physical effort, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, and remain stationary at times throughout work periods
  • Be able to focus on the job while standing and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs and carrying items weighing up to 25lbs and able to lift up to 50lbs with another person to assist
  • Be flexible for varying shifts/hours and overtime
  • Be punctual, reliable, and committed to each assignment
  • Preferred experience: 3-6 months of relevant work experience

Responsibilities & Requirements for Laundry Aides:

  • Sorting, washing, drying, pressing and folding clothing and other textile items.
  • Removing stains from items using the appropriate procedures.
  • Performing minor sewing duties.
  • Tracking which items belong to whom.
  • Keeping an updated inventory of laundry detergents and sewing kits.
  • Tracking maintenance and repairs on laundering equipment.
  • Ensuring that the facility remains clean at all times.
  • Anticipating and responding to customers’ queries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Keeping sufficient tokens or change for the washing and drying machines, if required.
  • Maintain a clean environment

Hours: Part Time and Full time positions available for both. Morning and Afternoon shifts also are available for both.
